How To Make 2019 Your Best Year Yet!

Do you greet the start of each year with joy or are you filled with stress and angst when you think of what needs to be done in the 12-months ahead?

While technology has gifted us with the opportunity to communicate with others all over the globe easily, you may not be aware that your words, your emotions and your very presence are communicating to others more loudly than you think.

Are you sending out positive messages or in reality, are you a leaking bucket? Here are three gifts you can easily and effortlessly choose to share with others that will make both yourself and the recipients feel great!

1.  Your words

Perhaps you’ve been moved by a great presenter. Even today, the words of Winston Churchill, John F Kennedy, Nelson Mandela or Martin Luther King continue to touch people around the globe. You too have the power to inspire and lift others through the language you use. The Oxford English Dictionary contains full entries for 171,476 words.  It’s unlikely that you are using a million different words each day. In fact, research indicates that the average person uses up to about 20,000 words a day if you are a woman, and around 8,000 if you are a man. What is more, you will also be using the same 100 words on a regular basis to describe your experiences. The language you use to yourself has a huge impact on how you feel and your energy levels… and it gets even more interesting in terms of your impact on others!

Tip #1: Use your language to inspire others!

2. Your smile

Just imagine 100 billion neurons constantly wiring and firing together in your brain so each experience you encounter becomes embedded in the network of brain cells that produce that experience. Each time you repeat a particular thought or action, you strengthen the connection between a set of brain cells or neurons.

For example, when you smile at someone, chances are, they will smile back at you and vice versa. When someone smiles at you, the natural reaction, the way you are hard wired, is to smile back. Not only that, a simple smile wires and fires neurons in a way that tells your brain that something good is about to happen.

Research shows that smiling reduces stress, exercises the facial muscles and can be a big help in changing your mood, often leading to laughter. Laughing sends more oxygen to the brain. That triggers the release of brain chemicals called endorphins. These chemicals help us feel positive.

Tip #2: Smile at every person you potentially want to connect with!

3. Your emotions

Have you ever noticed that when you feel confident, motivated and powerful you get much better results than when you feel tired, demotivated and depressed? What this means is that when you feel good about yourself you get much better results! In addition, research studies have shown that each human heart emits an electromagnetic field, the largest generated by any part of the human body, which extends up to several feet away from the body in a 360-degree radius. Indeed, the heart is said to be 100,000 times stronger electrically and 5,000 times stronger magnetically than the brain. That means your heart literally communicates with the hearts of others in your immediate vicinity! When you feel good, others feel good and conversely, when you’re upset it affects those around you too. Energetic interactions possibly contribute to the ‘magnetic’ attractions or repulsions that occur between people and also affect both business and social relationships.

Tip #3: Put yourself into positive states and pass on the good vibes to others

Spiritual teacher, Eckhart Tolle says that “Wherever you are, be there totally. Knowing yourself. Being fully present.” After all, when you are fully ‘present’ with others, your ‘presence’ literally becomes a gift! You can now begin to see how YOU are the Gift!

Wonderrrrrrrful. I've read this over and over again, because everything in there feels so good; feels so right; we know intuitively that its actions such as these that we've all been given the resources to enact - that lead to us being happy people on the inside. It is not career or wealth or material possessions albeit they are nice to have. It is consciously applying the practice of the three areas you mention that have the profound ability to make us feel elated and on top of the world. Thankyou for making my day brighter!

I'm always amazed at how careless people can be with their choice of words, which can hurt and destroy people's relationships and lives. If we all try a little bit harder to be kinder with our words, we can help make the world a nicer place without investing much time or any money to achieve it. #thesmallthingsmattermost

I really enjoyed this blog post. The three ideas are so easy to do, and yet we all struggle with upholding each as we get bogged down in our every day lives. I'm going to try consciously to apply these as a daily practice to make sure that this year is my best one yet. C
